Salam everyone! I'm Zeeshan, a student of Information Technology at the University of Chakwal. Like many of you, I used to struggle with the old Suzuki vans – no fixed schedule, overcharging, and zero safety. That frustration led me to start documenting bus timings for my own use. Soon, friends and family asked for copies. Then strangers started requesting. Today, this website is my humble effort to help every citizen of Chakwal travel with confidence and dignity.
Let me be clear about something important: there is no GPS tracking system on these buses yet. I wish there was! As an IT student, I dream of installing real-time trackers on every bus. But currently, the bus service operates on a fixed schedule that drivers follow manually. The times you see on this page are based on the official roster provided by the transport office, verified by me personally each month by riding every route with a stopwatch. What you get here is human-verified data, not automated tracking.

I still remember my first semester at University of Chakwal. The van driver charged me 50 rupees for a 15 km ride – double the normal rate – just because I looked like a new student. When I protested, he told me to get off. That day, I walked 3 km to the main road. That evening, I decided two things: first, I would never let any student be exploited again. Second, I would learn web development so well that I could build tools to help my community.
Two years later, here we are. I learned HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP. I approached the Green Bus transport office and requested their official schedule. The manager, impressed by a student's initiative, shared the complete roster with me. I cross-verified every single departure time by personally riding each route multiple times. The Dhudial route took me three full days to verify because of its 33-minute frequency. The Mulhal Mughlan route was trickier – the 75-minute gap means if you miss a bus, you wait over an hour. I wanted to make sure the times on this website were accurate so no one would suffer that long wait unnecessarily.
Why no GPS tracking yet? I get this question often. The honest answer is that installing GPS devices on 15 buses, plus building a server to process real-time data, plus developing a mobile app – it's expensive. The bus service operates on thin margins because of the extremely low fares (just 20 rupees!). I'm working on this as a student project, but until I graduate and can secure funding or build it myself, we rely on the fixed schedule you see here. The countdown timer on this page calculates based on the schedule, not on actual bus location. So please reach your stop 5-10 minutes early – that's my humble request.
This route passes through the heart of Chakwal's educational district. Starting from District Complex near the DC Office, the bus travels along Main Court Road, passes the Government Civil Hospital, crosses Chapper Bazaar (the city's oldest shopping area), then continues through Talagang Road before reaching Dhudial. Key stops include the Post Office Chowk, Al-Falah Bakery (famous for its fresh samosas), and the UET Chakwal Campus gate.
For students: The 7:40 AM bus from District Complex is the most reliable for reaching 8:30 AM classes. The 2:15 PM bus from Dhudial is perfect for returning home after afternoon classes. During exam weeks (December and May), the buses are extra crowded – I recommend taking the bus one departure earlier than usual.
Tehsil Chowk is the central hub – think of it as Chakwal's own "bus station." From here, you can catch buses to any destination. The Balkassar route is crucial for travelers heading to M2 Motorway (Islamabad-Lahore). Many passengers use this to catch intercity buses at Balkassar interchange. Local landmarks include the City Hospital, Grain Market (Anaaj Mandi), and the Balkassar Police Checkpost.
Business owners from Balkassar use this route daily to bring vegetables, grains, and supplies to Chakwal's markets. The 6:00 AM bus from Tehsil Chowk is always full with traders carrying goods. If you're just a regular passenger, the 7:30 AM or 9:00 AM buses offer a more comfortable, less crowded experience.
This is personally my favorite route. The bus passes through lush green fields, small villages, and offers peaceful views of rural Punjab. Mulhal Mughlan is known for its agricultural farms – wheat, corn, and seasonal vegetables. Many government employees working in the Mulhal Mughlan Administrative Office use this route. The bus also serves farmers who need to reach the Sabzi Mandi (vegetable market) early morning.
Warning: This route has the longest gaps – 75 minutes on weekdays. Missing a bus means waiting over an hour. I've seen people arrive 2 minutes late and have to wait. Please, I beg you, arrive at your stop at least 10 minutes before the scheduled time. The return journey from Mulhal Mughlan has only three buses on weekends (4:56 PM, 6:18 PM, 7:40 PM) – if you're visiting someone in the village on a Sunday, don't miss the 7:40 PM bus or you'll be stranded!

The Green Bus Service has taken meaningful steps toward accessibility. Three buses in the fleet (with green stickers on the windshield) have low-floor entries and designated wheelchair spaces. The conductors on these buses receive special training to assist passengers with mobility challenges. If you or a family member uses a wheelchair, look for the green sticker or call our helpline to confirm which bus is operating on your route that day.
For visually impaired passengers, drivers announce major stops clearly. We're working on adding audio announcements – another feature on my to-do list as an IT student!
